Re: Telescopic antenna

Todd, mine was meant to be just a coarse idea, by the way other similar solutions may (will) exist, also, the telescopic stick or, better said, two sticks, may be used to build a 10...12 meters band rotary dipole (if such bands are of interest), again, just some food for thought, nothing more/else :)

JFET oscillator from NASA

Maybe this will seem somewhat off topic, but all in all, most transmitters and receivers start with an oscillator, so ... :) To get to the point, the oscillator is described in this US Patent https://patentimages.storage.googleapis.com/ce/bf/25/b45d6dfe10cac2/US4553110.pdf dating back to 1980 and as...

Telescopic antenna

Let me start with the antenna itself https://www.amazon.com/Telescopic-Antenna-Sections-Shortwave-Positive/dp/B0DJNF3L1M as it is, the antenna couls be used on 4,7, 10,12 meters and possibly on 15 and 20 meters too; willing to get down in frequency (say to the 40m band) we may use an alligator clip ...

Re: Pedestrian mobile article in the 'SWR Magazine',

pity they don't release it as PDF allowing offline reading and/or issues collection; also, the domain seems "hijacked" https://swrmagazine.org/ but they may try grabbing "swrmagazine.radio" :) (using the "new" .radio TLD)

and then ...

also, if your antenna is a dummy load increasing your power won't help, so I believe you should revise your percentages :)

Re: Oblong loop formulas

and here's a reduced space antennna offering surprising performances, almost 2MHz bandwidth and a gain near 8 dBi it's a dipole, and it's suitable forcthe HF bands, for exanple to setup a 20m dipole in a limited space, the only limitation is the height and that's neeeded to achieve good gain (almost...

compact vertical EFHW for 20m

https://g4tgj.github.io/20m-EFHW-Vertical-Antenna/

it may come handy for POTA/SOTA due to its omnidirectional pattern and low takeoff angle
